Board Version 8.0.1 Release Notes

Upgrade instructions

Board Client version 8.0.1 can connect to a server running Board Server 8.0.1 only, it is therefore required to update all Board Client and Office Add-in installations.

Capsules and databases created or modified with version 8.0.1 cannot be re-opened with version 8.0.0 (or prior).

Board 8.0.1 contains improvement to dataview ergonomy (improved copy/paste and checkboxes), supports Office 2013 and contain various fixes.

Fixes or minor changes

• WebClient. Procedure step "Apply selection to current screen" is now available also for web procedures
• Dataview. When pasting a range of cells on a dataview with data-entry, it is now possible set the cursor on one cell, when pressing Crt-V the cells range is pasted starting from the cell having the focus and then to the right and down. Previously, in order to paste a range of cells copied from MS-Excel or from another dataview, it was necessary to select a range of cells of the exact same number of columns and rows.
• Entities. A malfunction of the entities transaction which was preventing to decrease the MaxItemNumber of an entity has been removed.
• Dataview Data-entry. A malfunction which was preventing to edit the totals of Detaviews with data-entry has been removed.
• A malfunction occurring on some reports using Vertical Alignment and having a formatted column with the option "symbol after" has been fixed.
• Drill downs on master layouts is now allowing to drill a different element from the one selected in master layout
• Sliding Panel. The Layout tab of the sliding panel is now correctly translated in all available languages of the Board Client user interface.
• WebClient. An error occurring in the webclient environment and causing the loss of dynamic selections when using the drill-to-screen function has been removed.
• Selector. The selector object can now be used in Summarized mode also by users having a security profile where the property "Deny selection editor" has been applied.
• Entity Format. The entity format definition window has been adjusted in size in order to correctly accomodate the localization of the interface.
• Date format. The date format used by the Board Client now depends on the user's regional settings of the machine running the BoardClient. Previously the date format used in the Board Client was following the server's regional settings.
• Charts. Is now possible to define chart custom margins trough numerical values other than the classical slider.
• Deny Print and Export. A new option in the security profile definition allows to deny the use of the print and export functions. To inhibit the Print and Export functions to some users, edit their security profile and enable the checkbox "Disable print and export"
• Dataentry. An error occurring when entering decimal while having different decimal separator between Board Client and the Board Server has been removed.
• Dataview. A malfunction on sorted alert columns has been removed. The malfunction occurred on group total alerts when sorting the alert column.
• Print options. An error causing the loss of the print options occurring after saving the screen has now been removed.
• Metadata Extract. The database name has been added to the contents of the files produced by the Extract Metadata function.
• Dataview. An error causing the client to crash and occurring on dataviews having the AlertBy function combined with Vertical Align has now been removed.
• ProcedureLauncher. Board's ProcedureLauncher utility program now writes the returned errors to standard-error (the program's return code is written to standard-output).
• ProcedureLauncher. An error of the ProcedureLauncher program causing it in some cases to hang after the Board procedure encountered an error has been resolved. Now whenever the Board procedure encounters an error the, the procedure launcher writes an error return code to stderror and writes the error description details to stderror.
• Folder container. An error of the Folder container object occurring when the renaming the tab label has now been removed.
• Broadcasting. Attachments sent via broadcasting had always the same name "attachment", now the attachment takes the screen name instead.
• SAP Datareader. The Do and Log options are now available also on SAP Datareaders in the Datareader transaction.
• Drag and drop layout. A malfunction using the drag and drop layout on database with two or more entity groups with the same name has been removed.
• Drag and drop layout. A malfunction occurring when applying time functions to Drag and Drop layouts has been removed.
• MS-Office 2013. It is now possible to install Board for Microsoft Office Add-ins on MS-Office 2013.
• Sitemap. When removing a capsule image used in the sitemap, the sitemap was throwing an error. This malfunction has been removed
• Printing in WebClient. A malfunction occurring when printing a report in Board Web client causing the printed report to ignore the selection made by the end user on a Pager or on a Selector object has now been removed.
• Web Dataview button procedure. An error of the Web Client occurring when attempting to trigger a procedure from a Dataview button has been removed.
• Drill down. When defining several drill down in a dataview other than the main one (the one in the blue arrow), Board was overwriting the dataview ones with the main one. Malfunction resolved.
• Export. Exporting in flattening mode was not keeping selections done through master layouts. Issue resolved.
• Dataview check-box. In order to perform a dataentry on checkboxes two clicks were needed instead of one. This error has been removed.
• Datareader to Oracle. An error potentially occurring on Datareaders to Oracle database occurring in the WHERE clause has now been removed.
• Dynamic select. Time entities dynamic select different from based on ones were lost when closing the configuration window. Malfunction removed.
• Drill-through. An error of the drill-through function which was incorrectly ignoring some selections in the drill-through statement has now been resolved.
• Excel Add-in. A malfunction of the Board Add-in for Excel causing the Select object to display an incorrect selection, not corresponding to the real data selection ans been removed. This malfunction could affect worksheets created with prior version of Board Add-in only.
• BoardClient. An error causing the Board client to hang in some cases after refreshing a screen has now been removed.
• WebClient. Default name of miniscreen added to cart now contains an incremental number when adding to cart. For example, when adding a chart to the cart that already contains a chart, Board will propose "Chart 2" as default name.
• WebClient. A malfuncion in search result tooltips has been removed.
• Dataview. Insert row on empty dataviews was throwing an error, this issue has been resolved.
• DataView. The font size and family of the dataview headers is now correctly managed through the dataview property panel.
• Dynamic Select. An error in the configuration of the dynamic Select function on non-time entities has now been fixed.
• Contanier objects. While in screen design mode, it is now possible to remove an object from a Panel container by right-clicking the object and selecting the menu option "Remove from container".
• Excel add-in. Two new Vba functions have been created to retrieve entities codes and descriptions GetElementCodesAndDescriptions(), GetElementCodes(), check the macro section for further details.
